The Vesper Technical Development Camp, directed by former Vesper head coach Jim Glavin,
is a high level camp for experienced high school level oarsmen and oarswomen who currently are, or aspire to be, successful varsity rowers. The five day, intensive technical program will row out of the world-famous Vesper Boat Club on the historic Boathouse Row on the Schuylkill River. Each session will be capped at 16 rowers.
The camp will provide a simple yet sophisticated approach to develop an efficient and powerful rowing stroke. Our approach will break down and develop mastery of the 4 critical components of an elite rowing stroke. The approach will be applied using the ergometer and in both sweep and sculling boats on the water. Daily video tape will be used to reinforce learning. In addition, flexibility training will compliment the technical development. A key goal of this camp will be to clearly establish the correlation between the ergometer as a training, technical asset and successful implementation of technique on the water.
A special feature of the camp will be guest lectures by US Olympic and National Team Head Coach, Mike Teti and 3 time Dutch Olympic medalist and current Vesper Boat Club Elite Head Coach, Michiel Bartman.
At the end of the camp each rower will receive:
A personalized technical prescription (to ensure continuity of their learnings)
Applicable cardiovascular and strength training recommendations
Camp T shirt.
