Director: Bruce Konopka, Former U.S. and Olympic Team Coach Ages: High School Rowers (Boys and Girls – Unisex sessions) Location: Vesper Boat Club, 10 Boat House Row, Kelly Drive, Phila. PA.
This program is designed for high school freshmen, sophomores and juniors who wish to gain technical mastery of the rowing stroke and develop into successful varsity rowers. The emphasis is on technique, not erg scores, and our goal is to teach every participant skills that will dramatically improve their rowing.
The program will provide a simple yet sophisticated approach to developing an efficient and powerful rowing stroke. Our approach will break down and develop mastery of the four critical components of an elite rowing stroke using the ergometer and both sweep and sculling boats ‘on the water’. Video tape will be used to reinforce learning. A key goal of this camp will be to clearly establish the correlation between the ergometer as a training, technical asset and successful implementation of technique on the water.
Each focused five-day session will feature very limited enrollment (capped at 16 participants) to ensure that every athlete receives ample personal attention and to foster the focus that will maximize the benefits of the experience.
At the end of the camp each rower will receive:
A personalized concise ‘technical prescription’ to ensure retention of lessons learned
Personalized cardiovascular and strength training recommendations
Camp t-shirt.
Camp Tuition: $500.00 [$25 per athlete discount for team registrations of four or more - $25 discount for coxswains (2 per session)]
